In accounting, a term used in connection with the presentation of financial statements when the accountant has accumulated or compiled the financial information of an entity and does not give assurance that the financial statements are presented in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. The accountant's responsibility in a compiled set of financial statements is limited to reviewing the statements for obvious errors.
In copyright law, a "compilation" is a work formed by the collection and assembling of preexisting materials or of data that are selected, coordinated, or arranged in such a way that the resulting work as a whole constitutes an original work of authorship. The term "compilation" includes collective works. Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C.A. No. 101.
